FINANCIAL AID
What is FAFSA?
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and it's the first step to qualifying for most forms of financial aid (Pell grants, Work-Study, Access Missouri Grant, student loans, and A+ Scholarship).
Who should file a FAFSA and when?
Any student planning on attending college MUST file FAFSA. Beginning Oct. 1st, you will be able to FAFSA. The quickest and easiest way to complete the FAFSA is online at fafsa.gov.
What should I do BEFORE Oct. 1st to prepare for FAFSA?
The FAFSA process is quicker and easier when you have a username and password called an FSA ID before you start the filing process. One parent and the student will both need their own FSA ID. Your FSA ID is used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents. Learn more about the FSA ID and how to create yours at StudentAid.gov/fsaid.
What should I do AFTER I have my FSA ID?
Once you have your FSA ID you can start gathering the information you will need to file the FAFSA. Remember, it isn't available until Oct. 1st. Here is a list of things you'll need:
-Social Security number
-Federal tax returns from 2021 (for students attending college Fall 2023)
-Records of untaxed income
-Cash, savings, and checking account balances
-Investments other than the home in which you life
Where do I file FAFSA?
Fill out the FAFSA at fafsa.gov. If you are planning to attend college in the fall of 2023 make sure you file FAFSA for the 2023-2024 school year (just think college school year).
